Why Buy Arlo Pro 2?

Arlo Pro 2 Review: Installing a good outdoor surveillance camera has been a problem for many. Whether you try installing one on your own or you hired a pro, drilling holes and running wires are often costly expenses. Fortunately, Arlo introduced Pro 2, which is one of the best home security camera systems in the market these days.

Arlo designed this product to ditches the electric cord for a reusable battery. Pro 2 is not an ordinary outdoor security camera. It works best indoors also. Arlo Pro 2 is the newest addition to the company’s innovative security cameras.

The predecessor was a beautiful battery-powered security camera. However, the Pro 2 brought it to the next level. It packs improved video quality, advanced weather protection, and enhanced features into a nice compact design.

Arlo Pro 2 is worth considering if you’re searching for a high-end security camera. The camera’s built is impressive and can record crisp, clear, and lively HD video. This outdoor security camera belongs to the collection of the newest IoT or Internet of Things devices that connect via Wi-Fi and other similar devices. These products are small, compact, and portable.

Though it’s a cable-free solution, Arlo Pro 2 is too different from its counterparts. That’s because it has a base station that is as a small as a little router. You should connect the base station to a broadband router using the Ethernet cable. Thus, you must have an extra Ethernet port on your router’s back.

At the same time, you should put the base station near the router within your home. Luckily, you can use the powerline technology for better flexibility, wherein you can plug the base station of Pro 2 into the powerline socket.

The package also features 2 oval-shaped cameras that look like giant eggs. These cameras are not only beautiful in white but are waterproof as well. You can mount them whether indoors or outdoors by using the provided sturdy magnetic mounts. Or, you can let them freestanding on the bookshelf or somewhere in your kitchen.

Both cameras have a microphone and tiny speaker on the bottom for two-way audio while there are two unnoticeable buttons on the top. One of these buttons is for syncing the cameras with their base station while the other is for accessing the lithium-ion battery at the back of the device.

Keep the battery fully charged by using the USB plug and lead or through plugging the camera straight to the USB port on the back of the base station. Compared to other security cameras in the market, Arlo provides two ways to set up the whole device. First, you may download the Android or iOS app to your phone. Second, you may set up the camera through the product’s official website.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to use your phone and your computer simultaneously to log in. Instead, Pro 2 automatically detects that you’re logged in on a specific device and will disconnect the other if that is the case. Theoretically, setting up the cameras to their base station must be upfront.

Just press the big sync button on the top of the device’s base station for a few seconds and tap the sync button until it begins flashing blue. When the devices start syncing, the lights in front of your base station must be green while the flashing blue light you see on the cameras must disappear together.

Moreover, you can label the cameras depending on where and how you use it and control them using your smartphone, tablet, or PC. With that, you can view 2 live images sideways simultaneously, or you may expand one of them to fill the entire screen. Though the field of view is not as huge as some outdoor security cameras, the quality of the images produced by a 1080p HD camera is exceptional.

With 8x digital zoom, you can hone the images by clicking the magnifying glass icon you can see on the web interface. Or, go to the video settings and use the pan-and-zoom option on your smartphone app.

Other great features include the night vision mode that will let you see what is happening when the lights are off. Also, there’s a 2-way audio option in which you can adjust the speaker volume to various levels through the mobile app, allowing you to talk to everyone in the house.

Arlo Pro 2 can also detect motion. The cameras can detect motion at any time by keeping them “armed”. You can also disable it if you want. Likewise, you can arm the security cameras only during a certain span of time (for instance, when you’re not at work). This way, the cameras will not receive alerts whenever you move all around the house. This home security camera system may send push notifications to your smartphone through the app or via email.

The integrated alarm is also a very useful feature available in Arlo Pro 2. It helps in making the system more effective compared to some budget-friendly security cameras in the market. The base station comes with a smart siren that has more than 100 DB output which you can turn down by using the app. You can set it up to produce a sound when the cameras detected motion.
